Winemaker Notes
From the hills of Castelli di Jesi, the Sciocchina Verdicchio 2021 by Albamocco is an expression of regional purity and elegance. In the glass, it presents a straw-yellow hue with subtle green reflections. The nose opens with white flowers, green apple, grapefruit peel, and hints of rose, linden, and almond. With time, delicate balsamic and herbal notes emerge, adding depth and finesse.
On the palate the wine is fresh, balanced and refined: bright acidity, light salinity, and a mineral tone carry flavors of citrus, white fruit, and a subtle almond-bitterness. The finish is long, dry, and pleasantly savory.
This is a Verdicchio that combines territorial integrity and a light but expressive touch—ideal when you want a wine that is both immediate and thoughtful, capable of reflecting the identity of the Marche.
The Story
In the hills of the classic Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi area, Alessandra Venturi and Filippo Russotto found themselves unexpectedly drawn to a new life. What began almost by chance—getting lost among the vineyards of the Valle Balciana—turned into Albamocco, a project rooted in respect for nature and the desire to live in harmony with the land.
The estate sits among forests and streams, where morning sea breezes flow inland, refreshing the vines. Here, Verdicchio has long thrived, and Albamocco cultivates it organically, following low-trained Guyot systems to create an ideal microclimate. Vineyard work is carried out with care: pruning, composting, and harvesting are done by hand, while the cellar philosophy is one of minimal intervention. Albamocco is currently in conversion to organic certification, with a future vision of a sustainable winery designed in full balance with the rolling landscape.
The “Sciocchina” 2021 is a pure expression of this philosophy. In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow with green reflections. Aromas of white flowers, green apple, grapefruit peel, and linden evolve into hints of almond and wild herbs. On the palate it is fresh and refined: lively acidity, subtle salinity, and mineral tension frame notes of citrus, white fruit, and a delicate almond finish.
A Verdicchio of authenticity and elegance—faithful to its terroir, light yet profound, and a perfect companion for both everyday moments and thoughtful reflection.
