Winemaker Notes

Rosso Sacrisassi is obtained from about half Schioppettino and Refosco, coming from vineyards located in Prepotto. The approach of Flavio and Silvana in the vineyard and in the cellar is aimed at preserving the natural expressiveness of the grape, territory and vintage. No herbicides, pesticides or chemical substances are used in the vineyard and in the cellar they continue with spontaneous alcoholic fermentations and in the case of this red wine aged for 22 months in barrique.

The Story

Silvana Forte (yes the name matches the personality - forte means strong in italian), husband and daughter make the dream team for Le Due Terre. Founded in 1984, the winery makes a very small number of bottles per year, around 18,000 total for the various wines they produce. The vineyard area is a mere 4 hectares of land, has never increased, and this guarantees Flavio the possibility of personally taking care of the vineyard at every stage. Although there are few hectares of vineyards, the land has two different compositions: red earth on one side, marl on the other, and this explains the choice of the company's name. The type of viticulture practiced is essential, without the use of fertilizers, herbicides, antibothritics and pesticides: in short, a real organic cultivation.

This "non-interventionism" Flavio and Silvana also practice in the cellar: spontaneous fermentations without the addition of yeasts and sulfur dioxide, no clarification, a light filtration in the bottle. These wines are nearly impossible to get your hands on anymore, so we hope you appreciate it.
