Winemaker Notes

The wine comes from 1 hectare on hillsides of the foothills in the Contrada of Castellaretta located in Staffolo (Ancona) at approx 440 metres above sea leve. In January, vines were pruned: grapes were hand-harvested in crates and hand-sorted, at optimal ripeness. The wine is macerated for 15 days in concrete and upon completion of fermentation the wine rests in concrete until malolactic fermentation completes. Aging is done with 2 years in barriques followed by another 2 years in the bottle. Only 160 cases produced.

The Story

The name "Rubinia" reveals the preciousness of this wine to that of the well-known bright red gem, and undoubtedly underlines its value. Obtained from 100% Montepulciano grapes in a limited edition, it is the maximum expression of the red vinification of the La Staffa winery.
