Winemaker Notes

The grapes come from a vineyard of approximately 3.5 ectars located on the slopes of Mount Amiata. The soil is composed of marl with carbon and limestone. The altitude of the vineyards is approximately 600 m above sea level with an average age of 15 years. The viticolture is inspired to the principles of biodinamics. Fermentation triggered by indigenous yeasts only. The fermentation takes place in steel tanks as well as the refinment. The annual production is approximately 12,000 bottles.

The Story

At Roscioli, we always say that everyone will like a wine when both Alessandro Pepe and Gaetano Saccoccio like a wine, and this is what happened with this wine. Gaetano prefers extremely natural wines and Alessandro thinks about the palates of all the others who like clean wines but don’t want the natural wines which can often have quite off-putting aromas. The guys at Bakkanali work organically, with some biodynamic practices, on a vineyard of 25 years of age to make this incredible wine which is sincere on the palate, has a beautiful refreshing acidity, and feels totally alive, as it has not been manipulated. Let this wine bring out the Bacco, or Dionysus, in you!
