Winemaker Notes

Prologo is obtained from 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes, coming from vineyards located between the Adriatic sea and Gran Sasso mountain, trained with espalier on pebbly and clayey soils. All the vineyards grow without the use of any chemical or synthetic substance and are harvested manually with careful selection of the grapes. After transporting the latter to the cellar and light pressing, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation begins which takes place in concrete containers and subsequently in large wooden barrels. Aging for 2 months in cement and 10 months in oak barrels.

The Story

De Fermo's Prologo is a powerful and refined Montepulciano that shows off all the class and complexity of the legendary terroir of Loreto Aprutino. It is no mystery that this municipality in the province of Pescara has given birth to the production of some of the greatest wines in Italy and probably in the world, above all thanks to producers with a centuries-old tradition. Although De Fermo's project is relatively younger, we cannot ignore notice the elegance and quality of each wine produced, valorising both native vines such as Montepulciano, Trebbiano and Pecorino, and the much mistreated Chardonnay, with one of the most convincing interpretations in the Italian panorama. Wines to listen, drink and share: the power of great bottles that unite everyone, from newbies to enthusiasts.
