Winemaker Notes

Produced from mountain vineyards in Umbria at over 600 meters above sea level, on clay-limestone soils surrounded by forests and meadows. Certified organic and farmed biodynamically, with all vineyard work carried out by hand. Made from Sangiovese with small percentages of local varieties, harvested manually in small crates.

Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in steel tanks, followed by a long maceration to extract color and tannin. The wine is then aged in large neutral oak barrels for 18–24 months, and further refined in bottle before release. Unfiltered and with minimal sulfur added at bottling, it expresses both the intensity of the Apennine terroir and the purity of natural winemaking.

Story

High in the Apennine mountains of Umbria, at over 600 meters above sea level, Baroni Campanino is one of the highest vineyards in the region, a place where altitude and wilderness define the character of the wines. The estate has always embraced organic and biodynamic farming, respecting the forests and meadows that surround the vines and protecting the delicate balance of this remote landscape.

Steep slopes of limestone and clay, cool nights, and pristine air give the grapes an unmistakable freshness and energy. Their Intenso red lives up to its name: a wine of depth and structure, with spontaneous fermentations and long, patient aging that allows both power and elegance to emerge.

What we love about Baroni Campanino is the courage to craft mountain wines that carry the raw purity of their terroir—wines that are bold yet refined, born from extreme altitudes and a deep respect for nature.
