Winemaker Notes

The Cannonau vineyards are located near the city of Mamoiada, in Elisi area, at 600 meters above sea level, with an average age of 20 years. The training system is spurred cordon with an average yield of 70 quintals per hectare. The harvest took place in the second half of September. After the manual harvesting of the grapes and soft pressing, followsspontaneous fermentation with maceration of the must on the skins for 10 days. Maturation in 30 hl French oak barrels for 18 months and further refinement in the bottle for 4 months. Burda in Mamoiada dialect means 'bastard' and identifies the vineyard that was rented and worked for only one year. A unique and unrepeatable bottle produced in 3800 copies.

The Story

Simone Sedilesu is a young Sardinian winemaker. After the oenology degree and various work experiences abroad, especially in South Africa, decides to return to Sardinia to found his own winery calling it "VIKE VIKE" (in Sardinian dialect this is a typical exclamation of amazement) which means "look look!".
Simone manages 2.5 hectares of vineyards located in the countryside of Mamoiada. The production philosophy is centered on the territory, respecting the environment and traditions. The wine is obtained by manual harvesting of the grapes, spontaneous fermentation and a lot of attention to keep the pure features of the “Cannonau di Mamoiada” allowing to free to express itself and to amaze us at every taste.
