Umbria

Umbria Winemakers, Stories & Vineyards

In Umbria, viticulture has a long standing tradition which currently plays an important role in the development of regional wine tourism. The most significant native varieties are Grechetto and Trebbiano for white berried grapes whereas Sagrantino and Sangiovese are the main protagonists for red berried varieties. Furthermore, the results achieved with the so called international varieties such as Merlot and Pinot Noir are surprising, without forgetting the Classic Method based on Riesling.
