Winemaker Notes

The vineyards are located in the Dogliani area and grapes are hand-harvested. Nebbiolo is fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and undergoes an extended maceration to extract structure and aromatic depth. The wine is aged primarily in stainless steel before bottling, preserving clarity and varietal definition rather than emphasizing oak influence. The result is a Nebbiolo that highlights structure, acidity, and transparency over power.

The Story

Luca Marenco farms in the hills between Barolo and Novello, where Nebbiolo is part of daily life, not just a label. His family has worked this land for generations, and even in a wine that isn’t classified as Barolo, you feel that inheritance. He doesn’t treat Nebbiolo casually. He gives it the structure and patience it deserves. The 2022 shows the grape in its more immediate form, but it still carries that firm tannic frame and lifted acidity that define the Langhe. There’s clarity in the way it holds together. It’s not heavy, and it’s not trying to soften Nebbiolo into something easier. It tastes like it comes from serious hills, handled by someone who understands restraint. We are drawn to Luca because he represents that quiet continuity of family growers in Piedmont. The wine feels like it belongs to its place.
