Winemaker Notes
Favorita, a native grape variety from Piedmont, is harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures to preserve freshness and aromatic lift. The wine remains on fine lees for a short period before bottling, enhancing texture without adding weight. No oak is used, keeping the profile clean and focused on varietal purity and tension.
The Story
Favorita is one of those Piedmontese grapes that doesn’t get the spotlight. It lives quietly next to Nebbiolo and Barbera, and because of that, it’s often overlooked.
But historically it has deep roots in the Langhe and Roero, and in the right hands it becomes something subtle and deeply satisfying. Pedemontis treats it with respect. They farm sustainably, keep yields controlled, and don’t overwork the wine. The result is a Favorita that feels honest to the grape: fresh but not simple, structured but not heavy, with that slightly nutty, dry finish that makes it incredibly versatile at the table. For us, this is exactly the kind of bottle that reminds people how much diversity still exists in Piedmont beyond the famous reds. It’s not trying to compete with anything. It’s preserving something.
