Winemaker Notes
Nebbiolo grapes are harvested by hand from vineyards in the Novello area. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, followed by extended maceration to extract structure and aromatic depth. The wine is aged in large oak casks for an extended period, allowing gradual development and integration without overwhelming the fruit. The focus remains on balance between tannic structure and freshness.
The Story
Luca Marenco inherited vineyards and a way of working that feels very grounded — not flashy, but deeply thoughtful. He grew up in an area where Nebbiolo is part of everyday life, not just a headline, and that upbringing shows in how he makes Barolo: with patience, respect, and a kind of quiet determination. Luca’s family has farmed these hills for generations, which gives him a long view — he isn’t chasing early drinkability or modern stylistic markers. The 2020 vintage is a testament to that patience. The structure feels meticulous, the acid line clear yet warm, and there’s a sense of place rather than winemaker ego. In Luca’s words, Barolo shouldn’t be loud. It should be understood through time. We respect Luca because he’s not driven by accolades; he’s driven by continuity. He’s building on what he inherited — the land, the know-how, a reverence for Nebbiolo — and that legacy feels present in every sip.
