Winemaker Notes

The Barbera vineyards have an average age of 20 years and they are located in Monforte d'Alba in the heart of the Langhe. After manual harvesting and soft pressing, follows a period of maceration of the must on the skins for 5-7 days in steel containers. Fermentation in steel for 2 weeks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in used 2nd and 3rd passage barriques.
Aging in barriques for 6 months and in the bottle for at least 3 months.

The Story

Simone Scaletta can be considered as a "new face of Barolo" even if he arrived in Langhe more than 20 years ago. This makes us understand the peculiarity of this place, rich in traditions and paradoxes where legendary producers and new wineries work side by side, using every piece of useful land. However, "intensive" viticulture has side effects: often the lack of biodiversity is recognized as a real problem affecting the environmental balance of Langhe. This barbera embodies the taste and the features of its land being an autentic expression of Langhe terroir.
