Winemaker Notes

On Poderi Sanguineto vineyards, the sun exposure is excellent, irradiating the plants throughout the day, ensuring perfect ripening of the grapes.
Human intervention in the vineyard is minimal: no excessive fertilization, no preventive treatment or chemical substances; only minimal quantities of sulfur and copper are used. The harvest is manual and the alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in the cellar. Macerates about 10 days on the skins and ages for 12 months in barrique.

The Story

The winery, which now belongs to Dora Forsoni, was inherited from her father and owes its name to a historic battle, which saw the Roman army opposed to the Etruscan one.
According to the legend, the clash was so bloody that the lands on which today the Poderi lie, theater of the battle, became red with blood ("sangue" in Italian), hence the name "Sanguineto".

This wine has wide and multifaceted flavors, after two years spent in oak barrels, it perfectly integrates fruit and spices scents. Driven by an unusual lightness for the denomination, allows a "compulsive" sipping.
Dora and Patrizia are two of the most lovely women we've ever come across. Do not judge a book by its cover...Dora, who petitely statnds at a mere 4'10", is the head of a local hunting association and is not afraid to pull out her phone to show you some of her trophies. She's one that has no trouble getting down and dirty in the vineyard, or in any sense in life. She's a person who respects nature and doesn't let anyone tell her she can't do something. For her, anything is possible. Their wines are possibly some of the best and most sincere from Montepulciano - just as Dora and Patrizia are.
