Winemaker Notes
The Refosco grapes are harvested by hand from vineyards in the Collio area. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts, with an extended maceration to extract structure and depth while maintaining balance. The wine is aged in neutral oak vessels, allowing gradual evolution without dominant wood influence. The focus remains on preserving the grape’s natural acidity and firm tannic backbone, which are central to Refosco’s identity.
Gravità is named intentionally, It’s the wine where Villa Job leans into depth and structure. Fermentations are spontaneous, and élevage is patient - allowing texture and backbone to develop without masking the fruit. The result is a wine with weight and tension at the same time: firm acidity, a serious tannic frame, and a savory, mineral edge that comes from those Friulian soils. What defines Gravità is balance. It doesn’t rely on overt aromatics or oak sweetness to impress. Instead, it unfolds slowly - more about presence and quiet power than drama. It’s a bottle that benefits from air and from food, and it reflects Alessandra’s personality: deliberate, grounded, and deeply respectful of her land. We love it.
The Story
Villa Job is led by Alessandro and her family in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, where they’ve committed to organic farming and long-term soil health. Their vineyards sit on ponca soils, and that texture always shows up in the structure of the wines. “Serious” reflects their mindset more than a style cue.
Even when working with low-intervention methods, they’re not chasing volatility or trend-driven aesthetics. They want balance, stability, and longevity. You feel that in the way the wine carries itself. There’s energy, but also depth. We respect producers like Alessandra because they chose sustainability before it became a selling point. The wine feels grounded in that conviction.
