Winemaker Notes
The Barbera grapes are harvested by hand from hillside vineyards in the Roero area.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with careful temperature control to preserve aromatic clarity and the natural acidity typical of the variety. Maceration is managed to extract structure without excess heaviness. The wine is aged primarily in neutral vessels, allowing Barbera’s natural freshness and tension to remain central, rather than being shaped by oak influence.
The Story
Pedemontis is a family-run winery rooted in the rolling hills between Roero and Langhe in Piedmont, where vineyards have been cultivated for generations. The project was born from a desire to reconnect with land and tradition, focusing on native grape varieties like Barbera and Favorita and letting each site express its character. Farming practices are measured and respectful, avoiding needless intervention while maintaining careful attention to soil health and plant balance.
Pedemontis works in Piedmont with a focus on clean, varietal expressions of local grapes. The vineyards are planted on calcareous soils in hillside sites, and the cellar philosophy favors simplicity: stainless steel fermentations and careful aging to maintain freshness and fruit definition.
Bajet 2022 shows Barbera’s natural brightness, with aomas of red plum, sour cherry, with approachable tannins and a juicy, savory finish that makes it immediately drinkable while retaining classic Piedmont character.
