Winemaker Notes
Kypra grapes come from the "Vigna Bassa", a vineyard with south-east exposure, at 250-350 meters above sea level. They are grown with the double guyot system and arise on a soil rich in silt, limestone and chalk, which gives the wine a strong flavor and aroma.
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks triggered only by indigenous yeasts. The aging lasts for 9 months in concrete tanks and a further 2 months in bottle. We advise to drink it between 14 and 16° Celsius and to save some wine for the following day to fully appreciate its aromatic evolution.
The Story
Ca’ Liptra is a small organic winery created in 2012 by Giovanni Loberto and 3 other friends winemakers to create wines stricktly connected to the environment of S. Michele, in the very heart of Castelli di Jesi area. The name identifies the portion of the flower which contains the inflorescence until the blooming, when the grape start to develop.
Every phase of the winemaking is handmade: from the vines to the cellar there’s only one creed: wine must reflect the real and pure identity of Verdicchio. The wine Kypra was born before the winery when Giovanni and friends were attending a winemaking internship in Jesi.
They wanted to create their own version of Verdicchio so they bought grapes from 3 different vines situated in Cupramontana area and they began to make experiments to understand every single feature of this variety. Since 2012 when they built the winery, Kipra represents the soul of their production and embodies their idea of how the perfect Verdicchio should be.
